SullivanArc and The Arc of Orange County Plan to Merge in 2017
Monticello, NY – March 1, 2017 – To improve the ability to support people with developmental disabilities in Sullivan and Orange Counties, SullivanArc (Monticello, NY) and The Arc of Orange County (Newburgh, NY) have entered into an agreement to begin due-diligence as part of a plan to merge both organizations in 2017.
This unification will help both organizations respond to a difficult economic and public policy environment that has placed new demands and fiscal constraints on all organizations that support people with developmental disabilities.
“The unification of our two organizations will improve our ability to fulfill our mission of providing life-changing support for hundreds of families in Sullivan and Orange Counties for years to come,” said Steven Kroll, Executive Director of NYSARC, Inc. “By building on the strengths of both organizations, The Arc of Orange County and SullivanArc will be able to combine talents to ensure that people with developmental disabilities have access to the best possible services and can enjoy the maximum possible integration into the community,” said Kroll.
SullivanArc and The Arc of Orange County are both Chapters of NYSARC, Inc. NYSARC is the largest family-governed nonprofit organization supporting people with intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities in New York State. With 47 Chapters across the state, NYSARC supports more than 60,000 individuals with developmental and other disabilities by offering residential, day, and employment programs.
